redfish..

Well from Sam's previous post ya know we had a pretty rough start to the vacation. And to tell the honest truth the entire vacation was VERY VERY rough but I am so glad to be alive and able to share even the roughest of vacations with this wonderful family.
I do not remember the accident.. In fact I do not remember the first few days after the accident. I only remember bits and pieces. I know a couple of things. This man I call my husband is simply the best thing that has happened to me and my family. He loves me (I am sure by reading below you can tell that) and has bellied up to the table and cooked, cleaned, and even bathed me to make sure I was okay and everyone else was okay.
Kirsten and Cassidi braiding hair..and yes MY DAD braiding Kirsten's hair.. Who knew?

I am struggling with recovering. I am seeing double out of my left eye, I can't bend down or I am dizzy and my teeth hurt so bad I can only eat VERY SOFT things. I am getting on the phone tomorrow morning and making many appointments over the next few weeks. I am sure that this recovery is going to be harder than I am even imagining but I do know I have my husband at my side.

Just hangin at the beach..

This is my sister, Michelle, and I. Hangin in the trailer!!
wanted to just share a few photo's of our vacation. Here you go.. enjoy and when I will blog a lot the next few weeks and keep you updated on my progress..
Sam and the kids on the dock at Redfish. This water is glacier fed so very very cold. I love jumping in the lake. I did not jump in but the kids and Sam did. It was fun to watch them!!!

I am going to lay down.. AGAIN.. I will post more about the accident but read Sam's blog below.. He knows a lot more of what happened than I do..

Redfish 09..... the scare of my life.......

Debbie's black eye. She did not even hit her eye but the impact gave her a black eye. She also had bleeding on the brain and a blood clot. Yeah scary scary stuff.. *side note. Look in the reflection of the window. that is redfish lake.. IT IS SO GORGEOUS. To Debbies right is Larry, Debbie's dad.
Debbie and I in the trailer. She has to sleep at a 20 degree angle. She cannot put her head below her heart. Lots of lots of doctors and recovery coming.
This is the rock she landed on. You can see the dark spots that is blood. Then she curled up between the rocks in fetal postition and you can see the blood between the rocks. She bled so so bad.
This is cassidi standing where Debbie fell. I am standing where debbie was standing when she fell back. You can see it's about 5 foot ledge. pure rocks. I wish I knew why she fell. I was looking at the lake and Debbie does not remember ANYTHING. which I think is a good thing. She does not remember the ambulance, life flight, pain, her kids, or blood. Which is a good thing..
Here is the story... enjoy!!! and thank you for the prayers!!!

We made it back from our family camping trip from Redfish Idaho. I have a story to tell and I will try to keep it short but I find it hard to keep it short because I experienced the most scary moments of my entire life this week. I am sure you all have defining moments in your lives that stick in your mind........ let me tell you about mine..

We just get to Redfish on Saturday the 1st, set up camp, cook dinner and sat by the fire for a bit. Later that night every one left for their own campsite and Debbie and I decided to go for a short walk to the lake, which was only about 100 feet from our campsite. It was a beautiful, nearly full moon, night that lite up the whole lake. We sat down right at the shore and Debbie needed to go pee. She stood up and took a step towards a tree and I turn my head to look at the reflections in the Lake and then I heard the most awful noise I have ever heard in my life....... Debbie fell and her body and head hit the rocks just below where I was sitting. I quickly turn and my heart came up into my throat..... I saw Debbie's lifeless body right at my feet. I knelt down and picked up her upper body and put her head and shoulders on my lap as I was saying "Debbie , Debbie are you with me honey are you with me????? Debbie, Debbie Campbell are you here with me???? You hit your head really bad honey are you with me????? " As I gently rolled her head over I saw a horrifying sight....... blood was gushing our of her nose and ears and out cuts on her head.. running through my fingers and drenching my pants and shirt. Just after that I heard her labored breathing start to gurgle in her lungs. I thought to myself that second "My wife is dieing right on my lap" I said a quick prayer or two and had a talk with God asking for help to make the right decision. If my wife was dieing I didnt want her to die alone but I wanted to run for help to get her out of here. Through all of this I was talking to her to see if I could get some kind of response...... slowly she started to come around and I was able to get her into a position where her head was not below her heart and she started saying something..... she held her head and I said I need to get you out of here to get some help..... all she could say was my head hurts.... wait a minute.... wait a minute... then curled up into a fetal position. This was my only chance.... I told Debbie "dont die on me I am running to get help and will be right back" I ran up to the trailer and got Cass and Tay out of bed and said to get an ambulance... your mom hurt her head bad..... Cass said how bad??? I showed her my bloody hand and she left in a hurry. I ran back down and Taylor followed me..... she saw her mom in the little hole hanging on to life.
Very soon after people started showing up to help..... Hank, the Sheriff, EMT then the ambulance to get her out. While in the ambulance Debbie started throwing up and they made the decision to life flight her to a neurology team...... she was in bad shape. We get to a hospital...... to find out later it was Boise not Ketchum....... we spent the next two days in the hospital and I had bloody clothes on for nearly that whole time. We went to Boise because it has a better trama unit than Ketchum. The helicopter ride was amazing but Debbie was so so sick she threw up blood the entire way.

I will leave it there..... this story goes on and on. Debbie will post on this later since this is about where her memory of this whole thing started. I know that life is precious and can end in an instant...... Thank God for all of our friends and family praying for us. I am so thankful I have my wife with me alive and in good spirits and health. We have a lot of doctors to see but she is here!!

Red Fish Lake Idaho we will be visiting you soon......

Ever since Debbie and I first met I have been hearing stories of Red Fish Idaho. Nearly every summer since Debbie was little her and her family spent vacations here and created memories that last a lifetime. Last summer, Debbie had a business trip to Sun Valley so Brock, Tay and I tagged along and I experienced Red Fish for the first time. I was awe struck at how beautiful it was and when I was finally able to jump into this crystal clear glacier water I learned how to swallow my nuts back down! I have never jumped into cold water like this especially in August!!! Here is a link of the stories and memories that were created on our last trip last summer.
Link to Last Years Blog

Nearly ALL of Debbies family will be there for their yearly reunion. I can not WAIT to get back there and spend a week with all of these great people and get to know them better. Debbie, Cassidi, Taylor, Brock and I will be loading up and heading out to create more memories. Debbie I love you and cant wait to get away from the world for a full week with my lil family. I wish more of our kids could come.

I learned how being that high up in elevation can create quite a thirst.... look at all the "Juice" that Debbie consumed last year to her left!! Yeah she was thirsty.

Empty Nest = restlessness!!!

Cassidi went with friends for a week and Brock went with his Dad for a week. Sam and I were all alone all week long. IT WAS THE STRANGEST THING EVER. I did not quite know what to do with myself. I now understand the entire "mid-life crisis". I kinda wanted to go buy a red sports car and go crazy..

No red sports cars and the kids are home. I feel better.

P.S. Winnie was the WORLDS WORST DOG while the kids were gone!!!

ABC 4 News Broadcast Interview

Hey Everyone..... never a dull moment!!!

ABC 4 news Christiana Brady found Debbie and I somehow through a random email telling her that we are an eHarmony couple. She saved the email knowing someday soon she was going to do a story about online dating and how its fastly becoming very popular and trusted.

So through several conversations with Christiana and eHarmony they interviewed us that same night. Monday night on the 20th our interview aired. We were so nervous, excited, anxious, happy before it aired. They did such a GREAT job with the entire broadcast that our anxiousness immediately went away.

Christiana thank you so much for a wonderful interview and for telling our story.

When to say WHOA!!!!

As you can tell we havnt been keeping up with the blog this summer. We obviously have been having a busy summer but has been a total blast.
I think Debbie and I are our worst enemies. We keep telling each other that we are NOT going to do anything tonight.... then end up doing something or going somewhere. We get a free night "lets go to Logan to see some friends" or we have a free Sunday with out kids we say "lets go swimming and hang out with some friends" and so we did. Even when we are home we are doing yard work, cleaning, laundry or fixing something up like our light fixtures.
Just this week we had my best friends from Sheridan drop by for a couple of days and that was way nice. It was our first visitors from Sheridan other than my daughters. That kept us busy for a couple of days..... no way am I complaining on this... we would like more visitors so please come.
So anyway.... anytime we see a gap in time we seem to easily fill it. With Debbies new job and my new promotion we are both incredibly busy with new careers. We are burned out and need a break. We need to know when to say when and do NOTHING. HOW CAN WE POSSIBLY DO THIS???? We apparently don't know how.
Luckily, we get to go to Red Fish Lake in Idaho for a week in August to go camping with the family. This will be a great break but we need help...... how can we slow down??????

Our Blogs First Anniversary

Exactly one year ago today, July 9th, and 10,500 website views earlier, Debbie created our blog and posted our first post. Here is a link if you want to read it - First Post

We have had so many stories to tell and had so much fun this past year I cant even begin to describe it all. Our family and friends are always commenting on our blog and say they read it all the time to keep up with us and how\what we are doing. I know we are sometimes spicy, dicey, opinionated and sarcastic at times but we are real people having real fun and living life.

What a great way to keep a history of our lives.... right at our fingertips.

I hope you all have enjoyed this as much as we have.

Before they hired me for my current job I had to do a sales assessment test. If I didn't pass I would not have gotten hired, so I knew I passed. After I was hired everyone in sales team that already worked here had to take the same test. WELL WELL WELL we got our results back today and its kinda an emotional roller coaster.. here is what mine "sums" me up as..

I THINK IT IS PRETTY SPOT ON... kinda scary!!

Words in black are word for word of sales assessment... (there are many many more pages I will post some here and there) Word in red... my two cents!!

Debbie becomes highly excited about selling something that she really likes. Being optimistic and enthusiastic, she is good at generating enthusiasm in others. Sometimes her enthusiasm is what sells her products or services, but sometimes other buyers may be offended. She has a tendency to use her fluent verbal skills (have they heard me talk, I am from Idaho and a little rednecky??)to paint detailed and vivid "word pictures" for her customers. She consistently meets the challenge of persuading peoples to her point of view. (This statement right here has gotten me and my friends in many many many bad situations... just like me to say.. "I think it is a great idea... and i convince everyone its a great idea and than..... look out.)

Some buyers may desire less talk and more facts. Socially and verbally aggressive, she loves to meet strangers and begin conversations. This is a great attribute when new territory is opened, or new accounts are dictated by business conditions. She prefers to sell a new client on HERSELF first rather than her product or service. This reflects her natural approach. When she buys, she also prefers to be sold in this manner (this is so so so true, I hate pushy sales people, I love a soft sell) . She maintains a very high trust level; that is, she trusts that people will make good on their promises. (Oh boy do I, I am WAY WAY WAY to trusting with people and get confused when people aren't as trusting as me)

Debbie experiences difficutly in telling a prospect that she doesn't have the answer to the prospect's objections. Her natural sales style attempts to answer the objections even if she lacks the proper data to do so.. (*laughing at this.. so true)She would rather take the risk than admit failure. She welcomes the objections that prospects raise. This provides an opportunity to meet a challenge and share more of her knowledge. She has probably been know to answer objections even if she has never heard the objection before. (I disagree with this, I can admit failure and I dare say.. I don't know) She will rely on her quick thinking and verbal skills to meet the challenge. She succeeds in projecting self-confidence in her sales presentations. This self-confidence evolves from her belief in herself and her products or services. Debbie may be rather careless in her sales preparation. She truly believes she can walk and talk her way through any presentattion at anytime, anyplace. (bull..bull..bull.. I over prepare...to the ninth degree) She frequently uses emotion and active body language in her sales presentation. (and everything else I do.. I use body language all the time)

Debbie can be seen as a good closer. However, she may postpone the close until giving the complete sales pitch. She should guard against excessive talking (this is me, I excessively like to talk) and close at the appropriate time. Debbie can be guilty of over servicing the accounts she feels are "personal friends". To her, friendship is important and she may overlook certain requests to maintain the friendship. Debbie may promise more than she can deliver to close a sale. However, Debbie DOES USUALLY deliver what she says she will, but she has difficulty finding the time to provide what she promises. Her optimism makes her believe she can deliver. She would rather make a social visit instead of a service visit. The social visit meets her need to be friendly and outgoing, while the service visit requires special effort if customers don't buy more products or service..

It's been a soul searching day reading this.. I will post more on different days.

Debbieisms.......

Debbieism is a term I use a lot in our home. I get asked what a Debbieism is? I have fun explaining it because there are so many stories to tell. Let me tell you a new one so your all aware of what Debbieisms are.
We went to the cabin this weekend for a night with the kids to goof off and have fun. Debbie and Taylor were in the cabin cleaning up or something and I was outside building a fire. I hear a scream "Sam... Sam hurry come here!!!" I thought Taylor had an asthma attack or something so I ran in the cabin at nearly a full sprint to find Debbie holding her hand in LOUD pain. I though " damn she cut her finger off" or something. NO.... she had a baby wipe container much like the picture below. It was a brand new dispenser so she had to push the towel through so it will dispense normally. Well.... she pushed it through and got her finger stuck!!!!! For the sake of this story I took a picture of my finger in a dispenser that actually has a safety collapse on it but wanted you to have the visual of what I saw when she held her hand up for help.

So... with her screaming in pain and my laughter between her screams trying to get her finger unstuck, I had to hold back on telling her to WAIT... I have GOT to get a picture of this for the blog haha... she would have killed me.

Anyway... I learned that these things are definitely a Chinese finger trap. So if you live with someone that has Debbieisms like I do, please buy the wipes that have the safety collapse on them. With Debbie, what is possible to happen probably will... haha

We had a good laugh after she got her finger out but it was definitely pinched bad.... pure humor though.

So much to "Celebrate"....

As I am looking at the long weekend in front of us and hearing everyone make “4th of July” plans I almost get giddy thinking about spending an extra day with my family.
Sam and I are not “rich” people. Yes we have a nice home, we have cars, we go on great trips, but we are not rich in the means of “money”. HOWEVER I believe I can’t possibly be more rich in the things that matter. In means of life or the things that really count. I wanted to share the things that I will celebrate this Independence Day..

• I live in a country of fearless men and woman that protect my freedom and sacrifice their own lives for the well being of mine and my neighbors and the generations to come. I truly wish I had that kind of courage.

• I live in a nation that since I have been alive I have watched it to start to transform into a more accepting nation. Every day we take down another brick in the wall that separate all of us. If it be.. Sexual preference, race, religion, demographics, financial class, or education. Each day I think we get a little bit closer to what I am sure our fore fathers had dreamed America would be and become. I know we have a long way to go but I am proud of the strides American’s have made in this fight.

• I have laundry that has to be washed, dishes that have to be done and floors that need to be vacuumed. I look at it in the way that I have all that stuff to do because I have a wonderful family that messes the house and their clothes up. I hurt for the mother that has lost their children and is wondering what to do with their time.

• I have a wonderful relationship with my husband that loves me UNCONDITIONALLY. I would not trade what I have with Sam for the biggest house on a remote beach in the South Pacific, or any tangible item. What Sam and I have will outlast any house, will weather any storm, and has made me truly the most blessed person on Earth. I hope all of you can find this kind of love at some point in your life.

• I have healthy kids and that right there is enough to be very humble!!!!! Not to say anything about them being wonderful and the other “3” loves of my life.
So as I go to this three day weekend hand and hand with Sam. I truly believe that even though my bank account balance does not have many zero’s on the end of it.. I truly am the “richest” person in America…

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY GUYS..

What are you guys celebrating this long weekend?

One Year Ago This Week!!!!

One year ago this week my life changed forever. I met the love of my life and the most beautiful woman in the world! Debbie and I talked on the phone for a full week before we met face to face. June 21st last year we met, the earth shook and time stood still for us as our lives changed before our eyes.
I blogged a whole story about when we first met a while back. Here is the link
It has been the most incredible year for Debbie and I. We have traveled, played and have had so MUCH FUN! I thought I would put together a scrap book blog of sorts. Come with me down memory lane for the last 12 months as I relive these experiences for our blog.

Our very first date on June 21st 2009 up Cub River. I was in awe.... still am to this day!

We were having so much fun together right away that on the 24th of June we decided that I was going to San Diego with her for a few days while she worked. July 6th we flew out, went to the beach, a Padre's game and fell in love. Wow was I falling hard at this time. What great memories Debbie. Remember the hour before I flew out? ;) That Friday we went to the Journey concert at the Usana Amphitheater... great times!!

In late July we had almost all of our kids together (less Sarah plus 1 of Brock's friends) and we went to Park City for a night and had so much fun. We went on the rides down the hill, had a great dinner and played games in the pool that night. Debbie attempted to make pancakes in the motel that morning... haha... they tasted great.
At this point, not only was I in love with Debbie but her kids as well. Our kids all got along great. Before this trip I knew where Debbie and I were headed but this trip topped it off and sealed the deal for me. What a great family.

I took Jordan back to Sheridan after a quick visit and Debbie went with us. She read us an entire book in the 8 hours of driving that day. That weekend my good friends Steve and Des Marosok had a back yard party with all of the old softball friends. My friends fell in love with Debbie. Who wouldnt.. heh
Around the first week of August, Debbie had a business trip to Sun Valley so Brock, Tay and I went with her. We went early to go to Red Fish Lake for a day or two. Maybe some of you remember the blog about this trip. Sun Valley Blog We stayed at some hippie convent and was quite the experience. I LOVE this place and cant wait to be there in August with Debbies family.

Redneck waterslide at the hippie convent!! Another concert at the Usana Amphitheater. Jack Johnson I think is who it was. Good Beer!

On August 23rd last year we went on a hike to Cub River to the place of our first date. I asked Debbie to marry me on that very spot where the river begins. I still swear she never answered me but her actions and reactions told me YES!!! lol

A day at the cabin at the river bottoms. It started raining and Josh was driving the truck and it slid off the road just before he climbed out of the bottoms. So we all head down and pushed the truck out while Cass drove. As soon as Cass hit the gas a roostertail of mud hits Taylor square on from her toes to the top of her head.... hahah... Debbie got it from the other tire. I never laughed so hard in my life.... my hell that was funny. All we heard was a scream and looky what we saw!!

One of our favorite meals as a family.... I think its called a crab boil but we usually use shrimp and a few other fishy things. Oh man this is SOOOOOOOO good!!!!!!

My BEAUTIFUL bride!!!! I married the woman of my dreams on 10-10-08 in Kentucky. My Dad married us.... what a blessing. I am still so in love with this awesome woman!!

Our first Christmas together! I finally found out what all of those boxes were for that filled up half the moving van. It was Christmas decorations. Box after box after box. I love how Debbie is so into Christmas and decorations. She truely made this a special holiday and so much fun. Beautiful Christmas trees and Christmas village.
Nolan and Peggie's (Debbie's mom) Wedding. That was a great experience to know they have found love too. I love you guys!
Sarah came to visit us this winter and Debbie said "lets go to the hotpots!!" So we all hopped in 2 cars and drove through a HUGE blizzard over the mountain and through through the woods and came to this little slice of heaven. We sat in hotpots while it snowed HARD!! This was so cool I cant even describe it. Obviously, we were the only crazy ones there.... haha
We finally went on our honeymoon in Janurary to Cozumel Mexico. An absolute dream come true for me. I have been to Mexico before but nothing even comes close to this trip. We had so much fun touring the island and goofing off...... Debbie I am ready to go back......

Since we cant have kids we decided to get a dog... oh man did we ever get a dog. She is so cute and Debbie loves her to death. I love her... just not that much... haha. She is a great part of our family.
Debbie had to go in for major reconstructive surgery. After breast cancer over 10 years ago she had a leaking implant and some other issues the doctor had to clean up. 150 stiches later I take her home and took care of her for a few days. This was a big big deal and I hated to see my wife in so much pain.
This Spring we took Brock and Cass to Moab. "Lets hike to the famous Arch!!" so we hiked up this mountain of Rock I think it was about 50 miles uphill....... my good lord... It was way worth the hike but dang if you ever want to do this hike take LOTS of water and dont go when its hot out. I dont know how we would have made it had it been in the summer. Fun fun trip though.
This Easter we had almost all of our kids again. Josh was not there he went to Vegas to party on his Birthday. So Debbie took us all skating. Honestly, I have not been skating in 30 years haha... what a blast. Taylor, Jordan and Sarah all came to visit. I miss them.

Well that is it in a nut shell...... so many experiences all year that its not possible to put them all in one blog.

Debbie I love you more now than ever. You are the light of my life and I am soooooo looking forward to the rest of our lives.

My Wife is back to work.......

Debbie has found an incredible job. She went through a huge interview process and sales assessment test and got offered the job last week in writing. She is so excited about her new opportunity and in her words..... TO GET OUT OF THE HOUSE lol Debbie thank you for creating an awesome home for all of us over the last few months. We loved having you around and taking care of us (and raising our spoiled Winnie)
Honey I am so proud of you and happy you get a shot at a new career. GO TEAR IT UP GIRL!!!! I am with you and love you very much!

So... since Debbie has carried the responsibility of the blog lately I thought I better step up and blog about something. She is a busy girl now.
Today I was thumbing through my phone pictures and thought I would take the first few pics I have in there and post them on here with a short story for each one. Some are blah but others may be funny.

A fantastic mullet at a bar in Brigham City the other night. Debbie was so impressed she had to take a picture over my shoulder. I have to say... you just don't see them this good anymore!!

A hyper night for Winnie and she settled down just long enough to take this blurry picture..... like I said some of these will be blah. Speaking of Winnie... I wonder how she will take Debbie being gone for work every day??

The other day we went clothes shopping for Debbie for her new job and we stopped in Victoria Secret to get some bra's. Cass, Brock and I had some time to kill so Brock saw this open window so I asked them both to get in there and vogue. They did and I took some pictures.... haha... honey never leave us alone in a store you know better than that. You cant take us anywhere can you??

Quadruplets?? No just my buddies a couple of weekends ago hanging out but dang... I didn't realize that "Birds of a feather flock together" saying really meant what it says.... WOW

My wife and her good friend Cheri chillin on the deck of the owl on an awesome day! What a couple of hotties. Have you ever had someone ask you to look down and spell A T T I C?

On Memorial weekend we took Brock to the batting cages and had him swing at 75 pitches. I swung at 50 and could hardly move the next day. He didnt seem to have a problem..... punk kids... haha We love you Brock.

A few weekends ago we took our Victory up to Logan with some friends and watched Cordell race his Yamaha Raider against a Helicopter. It was so much dang fun ..... what a great day that was. Debbie created this video on the computer and posted it. Here is the You Tube link in case you didnt get to see it.
Click this sentence to see the race

Hows that for a random blog... lol We have so much fun where ever we go.

Muy Bien!!

Today is Cassidi's first day of summer. Brock has half a day today but Cassidi is OFFICIALLY DONE!
I am starting my new job on Monday (will blog later about that) so this mornings conversation went kinda like this:

Me: "Do you want me to make you breakfast?"
Cassidi: "YES!!" *big grin
Me: "Okay we are having Mexican breakfast on tortillas."
Cassidi: "Where do you learn how to make this stuff?"
Me: "I don't know!"
Cassidi: Comes sit at the bar and is watching me and looks at me and says... "OH, I don't want you to go to work!!"
Mom:... *heart melted.

even at 17 years old she still likes to have her mamma home.. I loved that.

anyhow... I love these tortilla's. Jessica a friend of mine told me about them and I could not find them and could not find them and was so darn excited when I finally found them. You find them in the refrigeration section at your grocery store. At Wal-Mart they have them by their Mexican cheeses and stuff... THEY ARE SO SO GOOD. They puff up and are way fresh and good. You just heat up a pan and cook the for about 20 seconds on each side.. I WILL NOT EVER GO BACK TO THE PRE MADE KIND!!!
DISCLAIMER.. When you cook the tortillas on your pan make sure you let the pan cool before you put the pan in your sink with items like knives, cutting board (or anything that will melt)..
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS...
WE CANNOT GET THIS KNIFE OFF.. THE HANDLE IS MELTED TO THE PAN... Cassidi was able to get the cutting board off the bottom of the pan... COME ON DEB... I KNOW BETTER THAN THIS.. WOW.. HOPE SAM CAN WHEN HE GETS HOME!!!
